What is hormone replacement therapy?

Hormone replacement therapy treats low hormone levels and hormonal imbalances. It’s most commonly used to minimize the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause but can also ease uncomfortable symptoms caused by osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, and insulin resistance.

New Experience OB/GYN uses bioidentical hormones developed by Biote®. Bioidentical hormones come from natural sources like plant-made estrogens. They mimic the hormones that your body produces, significantly reducing your risk of side effects or complications.

What symptoms can hormone replacement therapy treat?

New Experience OB/GYN typically recommends hormone replacement therapy for women experiencing symptoms of menopause, which can include:

  • Hot flashes
  • Night sweats
  • Weight gain
  • Memory loss
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Low libido
  • Painful intercourse

Hormone replacement therapy can also help men experiencing side effects of andropause. Common symptoms of andropause include erectile dysfunction, loss of muscle mass, and mood changes, all of which can benefit from hormone replacement therapy.

How does hormone replacement therapy work?

New Experience OB/GYN administers hormone replacement therapy using implantable pellets. At the beginning of treatment, your provider numbs your upper buttocks, makes a small incision, and carefully inserts the Biote hormone pellet through the incision. Afterward, your provider covers the area with a bandage.

Once placed, the pellet begins releasing hormones into your body. It dissolves over time, leaving no remnants behind.

Will I benefit from hormone replacement therapy?

Only a qualified medical provider can determine if you’ll benefit from hormone replacement therapy. Following a comprehensive physical exam, a review of your medical history, and a discussion of your treatment goals, New Experience OB/GYN develops a care plan that aligns with your needs.

That said, if you regularly experience uncomfortable side-effects, such as memory loss or sleep disturbances due to the natural aging process, you’ll likely qualify for treatment.

Is hormone replacement therapy safe?

Hormone replacement therapy with Biote bioidentical hormones is safe and usually well-tolerated. Because the hormones used in treatment come from natural sources, they are safer and more effective than traditional hormone replacement therapy.

As your body adjusts to the increase in hormones, it’s normal to experience bloating, acne, and fatigue. However, these issues should subside and resolve within a few weeks.
