Facts About Pregnancy Trimesters

Pregnancy is composed of three trimesters, each of which comes with specific fetal developments. During all pregnancy trimesters, there are certain milestones women achieve during their pregnancy. With progression from the first trimester to the second, things get easier and safer. Move on from the second to the third, and you are nearing that exciting moment of giving birth.

Trimester One
This is during the first fourteen weeks. Many expectant women spend this trimester getting to terms with the fact that they are soon going to become mothers. Regardless of whether it is the first or the fourth child, new motherhood is always the same every time. During this period, the baby will grow rapidly.

Most of the organ systems and body structure of the baby happens during this phase. Some of the changes likely to be experienced include breast tenderness, bloating, nausea and other signs of pregnancy. Fatigue and frequent urination are additional symptoms observed by pregnant women during this phase.

Trimester Two
This is a period referred as the golden stage by many women. It is between the 14th to 28th week of your pregnancy when most of the unpleasant effects that you had during the early pregnancy disappear. You are likely to experience better sleep patterns, decreased nausea, and increased energy levels.

However, you might experience different and new symptoms such as abdominal pain, leg cramps, back pain, and constipation. This is a very active phase for the growing baby. Eyes and ears move to their final position while hair continues to grow. During this time, your OB/GYN will look at several blood tests to determine if the baby may have any problems. You might start feeling the baby making some movements in the belly. Senses are also developing, and the baby will soon be able to smell, taste, hear and see.

Trimester Three
This is the fun part of the whole pregnancy. The expectant mom is starting to feel some excitement while the baby bump is now clearly out for everyone to see and enjoy. This is the final stretch of the pregnancy trimesters from the 28th week to delivery. Final growth occurs during the 37th week and you are likely going to experience signs of false labor.

Some of the physical changes and symptoms you are about to feel include urinary incontinence, hemorrhoids, varicose veins and other minor problems. Most of the problems occurring during this phase are mainly due to the increased uterus.

It is the joy of every mom to see her pregnancy period from the first trimester to the third trimester. However, there are a few symptoms along the way. All pregnancy trimesters and milestones make a significant contribution to the growth and development of the baby.
